Has anyone watched the commercials by Emerald Nuts? The ones that say your blood sugar is low, you should eat some nuts?
Well, I was very curious as to how a serving of nuts would boost blood sugar. So I started digging into the nutritional content per serving. It's so bogus! Here is my letter to the company:
"I have been watching your commercials with great interest. As a diabetic, I often need something to boost my bloodsugar levels. After seeing your commercials I decided to check out your products.
What a crock! I would have to eat a whole bag or two to raise my blood sugar!
Dietary fibre amounts are deducted from Carbohydrates. On average your products contain very little carbohydrate.
Believe me, I am not complaining that they are low in carbs. I'm complaining because you say, in your commercials, that eating your nuts will boost your blood sugar. That's untrue compaired to the serving size and amount of nuts you would have to eat to raise your blood sugar.
Just think of all the people you could hurt by this advertising! Elderly diabetics thinking it's safe, children, etc!
I'm very disappointed that your company shows such a lack of ethics and truth in advertising.
Shame on you!
Disheartened, Tara"
Lesson Learned Here: Read the serving size and nutritional contents BEFORE you fall for a commercial!

Health & Weight loss update =)
So, it's been a few days since I last posted. I'm happy to report that my appatite has gone down significantly. I am no longer craving food all day, which is freakin' awesome! For breakfast I had a lovely Gala apple (my fave, yummy!). Dinner was a pork roast with roasted potatoes, onions and a couple of apples. Very nice.
Gary and I also went for a walk again. Our local grocery store is implementing a fee for plastic bags starting tomorrow, so we've bought a couple of reusable fabric bags. Only $0.49 each, not bad at all! We did buy pop (I know! I know! bad me), but I always get diet (calorie & sugar free, sometimes caffeine free). It was quite lovely out, though I think we are in for some rain soon. It would be nice, it's so dang dry and dusty here!
I have a confession though, I plan on buying a couple bags of gummy candy soon - they are on sale and are my favorites! But rest assured, candy lasts a very long time with me - in fact I just gave away the remainder of candy I bought in October (Live wires and some sort of tropical fruity fish). I like to have candy on hand, for when I have a sugar craving, I can have a nibble. The key is to only have one serving in front of me - don't keep the whole tub within my general reach, otherwise I will nibble until they are gone =(
Recently Gary and I went to our doctor. We filled out our disability forms and he was very good with them. I am excited about this! We've been told for 6 years we should have applied, so now we have. We'll be able to get a yearly bus pass for $50 (instead of 50-60 per month!). That will help a lot with getting to appointments, getting out of the apartment, etc. I love going to the Wildlife Park, so we are going to get a year pass for each of us ($24 ea/year vs. $11 ea/per visit). That will be awesome as I can spend hours upon hours there, just walking around and talking with the animals =D
Today I discovered something called a Neti Pot. It's supposed to help clear out your sinuses (allergies), and help you breathe a whole lot better. I am thinking about trying it out. I did a ton of reading and think I will start with this recipe:
1 Cup Distilled Water
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
The baking soda is supposed to help sooth the mucous membranes, and to reduce any burning you feel (if the salution goes down your throat, etc). I will try this out this week - I am going to buy one of those Sports water bottles (with the little, erm, topper thing, like This). I will let you know what I think of it =)
Speaking of baking soda, I also read that it is a good thing to use to scrub your face (after you wash, using it like any other facial scrub, NOT a Mask though!). A little soda and a little water, make a runny paste and scrub. Don't leave on too long, rinse off. Many have sworn they see results in as little as 4 days! Reduction of blackheads, reduction of acne, and reduction in pore size =) So I will also be trying this (I need to buy a few boxes just for my beauty regimens, lol). I will tell you all what I think of it next week =)
I really like the idea of going green. Trying hard, too. Not just half assed, lol. I look over at the imense stack of plastic grocery bags and I know I have to do something with them. I plan on making some of those amazing reusable bags like you can see featured HERE. I just need to go find my iron - I know I have one, it's hot pink! But where it is...well that's another story, haha.

Weight Loss
Wow, I really just jump into the subject, don't I? Haha. Anyways, today I want to chit chat about weight loss. I've been feeling the urge to loss this extra weight. After all, I've been carrying it around for 20 years, and I think it's time I say good bye. It's not needed anymore, and it's time for me to come out of this shell.
So I've been trying to eat healthier. It's difficult! I didn't think it would be too hard to do, however all the foods that come into our home are primarily refined and junk. I've given up most meat, preferring to eat only chicken and fish (and shellfish on occasion). I would love to go back to being primarily vegetarian, eating only chicken and fish (my body doesn't process vegetable protein too well, so I still have to eat meat). As much as I would love to eat free-range organic meat, it is way out of our budget :( However, I am trying to cut out the crap (I say trying, as I have a 2lb tub of Easter candy sitting beside me, thankfully it's not that yummy, so I only eat a few pieces a day).
I am also walking a lot more. The weather has been beautiful - around 20 Celsius, and sunny. One day Gary and I took an 8km walk! I was tired and a bit achy afterwards, but I loved every second of it. I remembered that I have an awesome kite in the closet - a 4' wide Peregrine falcon, very pretty. And having the park just 1 block away from us means I can go fly a kite! LOL!
Another thing I have decided to try is a subliminal weight loss program. It's supposed to be permanent weight loss and is the sound of a bubbling brooke (well, it sounds like the fish department of a pet store to me, haha). I've been using it for 10 days now, and can't get to sleep unless I've listened to it (as well as a few meditation-music bits and a couple additional subliminal positive-affirmation bits). I've been sleeping much better, I don't need as much medication at night to fall asleep! I love that fact! I've been taking Zoloft for a few months now, and I can honestly say that I am HAPPY! I feel so good! I feel more love for Gary, happier in my circumstances, happier for the life I have =) It's a truly wonderful feeling!
So, in the past 4 weeks of trying to get healthier, I've lost a total of 20lbs =D That has honestly been without effort on my part. I plan on going for that long walk once a week at least, and getting on my stationary bike at least once per week. I would love to get an actual bike, but I need on of the old girl style, kind of like this, or this, or even this. It needs to be a bike that I will sit upright on, not bent over like other bikes. I just need it to motor around the North Shore. I would love to find one soon, since the weather is so lovely and I would love to ride around McArthur Park =)
Anyways, I'm going to head off for now. I want to see if I can get some scrap pages done =) Cheers all!

Hellooooooo!
Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well =) I have some news for you, and it will save you money! I have decided to part ways with Moo Two Designs. I will no longer be designing for them as I simply don't have the time to give them decent designs. Now because of this, I am selling out my store there, with absolutely everything on sale fro $0.99! Check it all out HERE!
I am currently actively learning Latin American Spanish in hopes of becoming a flight attendent. You only need a second language, and Spanish is a language that I've long wanted to learn (my best friend, Ana, is from Peru, and I would love to converse with her in her native language!).
Also, I have started a new job as an Editor for an online magazine. It's very new, so I don't want to disclose the name yet. I have also started two new e-magazines in Canada! One is Animal Communicators of Canada and the second is Real Clothes for Real Women (it features articles and patterns and ideas for women of all sizes, written for and by other real women!). The Animal Communicator mag is to help ACs in Canada keep in touch, share stories, ideas and problems and to help raise awareness about what we do. I think it will be amazing once we get more article submissions =)
I've also been toying with the idea of looking for a local paranormal society to try to expand my education and experiences. I've been very drawn to Ryan Buell lately, and his work with PRS. So, I am going to go with the flow and try to learn as much as I can =)
Yesterday Gary and I went for a long walk - an 8km walk to be exact! It was beautiful, 18 above and sunny...I am hoping today to go for another walk, or perhaps to either fly a kite or feed some birds. I've been feeling very well as of late. I've gotten over the infections that have been driving me crazy, and I feel renewed and refreshed!
Anyways, I hope you will have a lovely day and see you all later! Cheers all!

Greetings Everyone!
Hello all! This is just a quick post to let you know that I have not dropped of the face of the planet, lol.
I have just had to reformat my computer - not a fun thing to do, but I was lucky to save about 95% of everything that was important. I was worried that I would have to trade my LT in for another one, but so far my baby is working well ;)
A lot is going on at home...my parents have moved in with us, and I am starting a new job as an editor for an online magazine! I am very happy and excited! I am also helping my dear friend Ana with tutoring her in Biology. That reminds me I need to call her and see if she's gotten the results of her last assingments.
I am feeling much better lately. I've been giving WoW a break and actually crafting more. I have discovered air dry clay, and although it's messy, I absolutely love it! I've been making some art doll faces (using a Sculpey push mold), and the other day I actually hand carved/shaped 2 mini owls, 1 rat, 1 cake slice, 1 octopus, 1 cabbage rose and 2 mini eggs. It's pretty awesome. I will get photos up once they are painted ;)
I am also swapping more on Swap-Bot. I love it there and it has seriously inspired me to create more often. Every day I am making something, and I truly love it.
Anyways, it's late here and I am quite tired. I am off to bed, and I will see you all soon!
Cheers All!

New Header!
What do you think of my new header? I love it, hehe! If anyone knows how I can center it more (so it covers those lines), please let me know! I am rather clueless about doing things like that, lol. Anyways, just a quick post, I'm going to try to get some sleep (been wide awake since 2AM). cheers all!
